About the Department:
The department of English is established in the year 1976 in Tunga Mahavidyalaya. In the beginning, only two programs, Viz-B.A and B.Sc were commenced B.Com course was introduced after 1970. English as a Language subject was taught in all programs as the institution accommodated for four lecturers. Prof. T. Ganapathi,  Prof. N. Srinivsa Udupa, Prof. G. K. Shrikantha Murty, Dr.U.H. Ganesh, Prof.H.V. Laxminarayana, Prof. Nataraja L. K. have worked in the department till the date. Now Prof.Chaithra.T is working in the department. The department of English has a rich tradition of art and literature. Renowned writers, thinkers, theatre activists and artists have served in the department.

The department of English aims at the holistic development of the students. The remarkable achievement of the department is in terms of successful graduates. Our Alumni’s who are serving in various walk of the society. There are successful administrators, university chancellors, scientists, advocates, teachers, etc., are serving in central and governments.

Objectives of the Department:

• To raise the standards of the students for global level and made than employable.
• To insists to develop positive attitude and good communicative skills.
